Active Power adds markets and geographies with new flywheel installations

As countries and businesses adapted to the impact of COVID-19 Active Power responded rapidly to US, European and Asian market demand with timely delivery, installation and commissioning of sustainable Cleansource flywheel clean energy technology. In some months of 2020 and 2021 Active Power was installing a Cleansource solution somewhere in the world at a rate of almost one per day.

Today as world economies spring back and activity ramps up Active Power is responding to demand for clean energy power solutions to help customers meet continuing pandemic challenges and the ongoing climate crisis.

Jack Pearce, CEO, Active Power Inc. said: “Figures for 2020 and 2021 show Active Power was able to adjust quickly to cope with the immediate shock of the Covid Pandemic. Despite the disruptions we were able to meet customer demand. But our customers know that Active Power’s focus is not simply on meeting short-term needs. Even while coping with the immediacy of the pandemic in countries and markets across the world we saw climate change considerations gain momentum throughout 2020 and further gather pace this year. This is driving demand for carbon free, environmentally friendly power systems. Governments, public sector and commercial organizations recognize the role power system infrastructure can play in cutting the carbon cost of power delivery and back up. For our customers continuous operations means using Cleansource flywheel technology for immediate power back up and as a clean energy solution as part of their long-term climate strategy.”

The growing number of installations of Cleansource flywheel technologies across a diverse range of industries and applications in more geographies is helping companies transition to net zero operations.

For decades the power chains in energy intensive users in the industrial, IT and healthcare sectors have relied on kinetic solutions for back up reliability and efficiency. Today a growing number of markets such as finance, hospitality, broadcast and retail are also benefitting from the low and no carbon power back up delivered by Cleansource flywheels.

Companies are accelerating moves to carbon net zero operations. For businesses of all types this means evaluating the entire carbon cost of power infrastructure from the raw materials used, to manufacturing processes, whole of life operation and eventual disposal or recycling.

Ranging in power ratings from of 225kW to 2.4MW in a single unit Active Power Cleansource flywheel kinetic energy power systems are chemical free, battery free solutions.

Cleansource flywheels deliver sustainable, carbon free delivery of back-up power to the world’s critical industries.
