Piller exceeds €100k target riding the Harz Mountains
Osterode, Thursday 13th June
Piller MD’s from each of the global offices marked the centenary of Piller’s operation in Osterode, near Hannover, Germany with a 100km charity cycle ride yesterday.
Thanks to the collaborative efforts of Piller supporters and match funding by the group, the team raised more than €103,300 against their €100k target with all proceeds donated to The Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent charities.
In this special ride, dubbed ‘100 4 100’, the challenge was to cycle the spectacular and rugged Harz Mountains region of Northern Germany. The team completed a total distance of 102.51km in 5hr 10min, averaging 20km/hr.
There were several involuntary dismounts and a pedal failure along the way but otherwise the team remained relatively unscathed!
Andrew Dyke, Piller Global Managing Director, and team participant said:
“At the start of the year, we set ourselves an ambitious target of €100,000 for the chosen charities providing aid to world disasters; as a result we’ve not only reached the target, but exceeded it”.
Bernard Langley, Director of parent company Langley Holdings, congratulated the team on a fantastic achievement; he said not only did they finish in one piece in just over the 5 hour mark, but raised a magnificent amount of money for their nominated charities. He also said since introducing the group’s match funding policy in 2015, open to all employees and their families, a substantial amount of money has been raised for numerous charities.
Piller thanked the organisers behind the scenes, the sponsor and all their supporters for their generous donations. The fund will be closing at the end of June 2019.
