Active Power reports record order growth in 2022

Austin, Texas -  25th January, 2023

Flywheel energy storage specialist Active Power achieved record order intake for the US in 2022 with UPS sales doubling year on year.

The record order book is a result of the company’s ability to respond to growing interest in flywheel UPS technology thanks to the technology’s smaller footprint, high efficiency, sustainability, reliability, and cost of ownership benefits over batteries.

Jack Pearce, CEO, Active Power, says:

“Interest in Active Power flywheels for clean, reliable, sustainable energy storage is surging in every sector. All businesses and organizations are experiencing the pressures of rising power costs, increased need for local power back up and protection and addressing long term sustainability. Active Power flywheel technology outlasts batteries with no drop off in efficiency for its entire operating lifespan of over 20 years. It needs no expensive cooling so is cheaper to run and, is manufactured from completely recyclable material.

Active Power’s tighter control over its supply chain combined with improved production and service efficiencies positioned the company for an agile response to growing customer demand that saw industry-beating fulfilment lead times from as low as 10-15 weeks, often less than half that of many competitors

Active Power CLEANSOURCE® and POWERHOUSE UPS ranges deliver over 25% lower operating costs compared with battery backed UPS alternatives. Flywheels result in fewer electrical losses and simplicity of design, manufacturing quality and reliability requires less maintenance and planned downtime.

Active Power successfully navigated the COVID crisis and is now better positioned than ever to serve a rapidly growing customer base with upgraded products and service offerings. This has created a platform for further growth in 2023.
