Data Center Design Sessions | Orlando + Chicago

You’re Invited…

…To participate in one of our upcoming data center design sessions, either October 6 in Orlando or October 13-14 in Chicago. To the right are event details including an overview of the schedule and featured speaker for both events. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask. If you are available to participate in either session please let us know ASAP as space is limited.

Thank you again for your time. We hope to see you in Orlando or Chicago!

Data Center Design Session Format:

As with any leading technology company, Active Power is continuously working on new solutions and concepts that help solve REAL customer challenges in power and cooling infrastructure design. One of the main challenges for the future that we have identified through our extensive field research is the need to address the continuous power - and more importantly cooling - during power outages as the cooling systems are not historically protected against outages due to the nature of the load.

So we asked the question, what if a technology existed that provides BOTH back-up power AND cooling at the same time?

We’ve got our own thoughts on the topic and we want to know what you think. Our data center design session is a vendor neutral and non commercial session for end users like you to provide real world feedback on interesting technologies that may help solve these power and cooling challenges simply and economically.

You and 10-15 of your peers in data center operations have been invited to attend this first design session in which you will have an opportunity to talk about your challenges and how you think the technologies and concepts presented can be adapted to help you better operate your data center. Active Power and its consultants will use your feedback to aid in the design process and with your express consent we will continue to keep you informed of the progress of the solution. We will also issue an exclusive invitation to preview a demo of the system when completed.

In our experience with previous data center design sessions, participants found it extremely both for the interaction with other end users and to get an in-depth understanding of what technologies are on the horizon to help solve these REAL customer challenges.

Featured Speaker:

As an extra incentive for your time, we have secured Steve Fairfax to share some his insights with the group. Steve will present independent data on cooling reliability in data centers today, which are impacted by higher densities and more advanced continuous cooling systems.

Steve is President of MTechnology, Inc., consulting engineers specializing in power system engineering for demanding 21st century enterprises. MTech's clients include manufacturers, designers, and users of power systems for the 7x24 world. MTech performs Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) of data center power and cooling systems, LNG liquefaction facilities, and hazardous process industries. MTech engineers conduct reliability analyses, failure investigations, failure modes and effects analyses, and provide expert testimony in patent, customs, and personal injury litigation. MTech develops and demonstrates highly reliable power systems for fuel cell power plants, battery replacements, DC microgrids, magnetic levitation track and vehicles, ore transportation systems, and semiconductor processing applications.

Steve joined MTech in 1997, but he has been working with multi-megawatt power systems since his undergraduate days at MIT. He began full-time study of power system reliability while working as Managing Engineer at Failure Analysis Associates.

He served as head of Engineering and Operations for the Alcator C-MOD nuclear fusion reactor during its design and initial operation at the MIT Plasma Fusion Center, and as principal engineer in several Boston-area firms. Steve holds Master's Degrees in both Electrical Engineering and Physics from MIT.
