CleanSource® UPS Product Options
GenStart - 24 volt gen set start power
This option provides up to 1000 amps of starting current at 24VDC directly from the flywheel system to the engine generator. The UPS can be located up to 500 feet away from the gen set. GenStart also provides 24 VDC power for controls during start. Requires 3-phase AC cable and dedicated redundant starter motor or a diode coupler. This feature is rated up to 50°C for five cranking cycles of 10 seconds each. Large engines (3516 or equivalent) require two gen set start options. UPS can be equipped with a maximum of one gen set start per power stage. Factory option only.
Remote notification and monitoring - modem, Ethernet, or dual communications
Alarm or notice notification is provided either via paging (modem version) with up to 4 pager contacts, e-mail (Ethernet version) with 4 programmable e-mail addresses, or both means of notification (dual communications). Remote monitoring for real-time system view via the phone line or network connection requires CSView software.
CSView™ - real-time monitoring software
CSView software provides real-time monitoring capability of over 30 UPS operating parameters such as current, voltage, flywheel speed, temperature and event logs in both graphical and text format on a local or remote PC. Software includes remote monitoring capabilities, historical plots, expandable windows and diagnostic aids. Requires PC with modem for remote monitoring via phone line or Ethernet card for remote monitoring over a network. A multi-user or single-site licenses are available for CSView.
Remote EPO
The Remote Emergency Power Off is used to remove all power from the critical load and turn off the UPS. The Remote EPO control switch is located remotely (up to 500 feet) from the UPS system. The switch is housed in a control panel that may be installed surface mount on the wall. The switch may be a normally open or normally closed type A dry contact, and connects to a relay coil on the UPS System I/O board.
Local ESO
The ESO (Emergency System Off) option replaces the Local EPO button on the system cabinet of the UPS 250 expandable, the UPS 300 expandable or larger. When this (Yellow) ESO button is pressed, the UPS turns off (i.e. the input and output contactors of all MMUs open) and the load transfers to bypass. The load is turned off only if bypass power is not available. In comparison, the standard EPO button turns off the automatic bypass as well the MMUs which means power to the load is interrupted. Neither the EPO nor ESO affect the maintenance bypass, which always requires manual operation to turn on or off. The ESO option is not available for the UPS 250/300 single module systems. A remote ESO is not available.
Remote status panel
The panel contains 8 backlit status indicators, horn, horn silence and lamp test. This system must be mounted within 500 feet of the UPS.
Static bypass switch
This option ensures an instantaneous transition from on-line to bypass operation in the event of a catastrophic internal UPS failure or substantial overload. The option utilizes Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs) to instantaneously connect the bypass source to the output. At the same time, the UPS output contactor or breaker opens and the bypass contactor or breaker closes in parallel with the static switch.
Maintenance bypass
The maintenance bypass option allows complete system isolation without load interruption in order to perform maintenance on the UPS system. No cabinet expansion is required for this option. There is no power protection while in maintenance bypass mode. This option is available in the following configurations: - Single input, 3 device bypass - not available on 750 and 900 models
- Dual input, 2 device bypass - not available on 250 and 300 single module systems
- Dual input, 3 device bypass - not available on 250 and 300 single module systems
Note: Dual input systems require inputs to come from a common (synchronized) source
Dual input - no maintenance bypass
This option provides for 2 inputs that are derived from a common source when no maintenance bypass is required or a separate standalone maintenance bypass will be used. Inputs for the UPS and internal bypass are separated. This option is not available on 250 and 300 single module systems.
4-Wire input & output - 480 volt 60 Hz
While the majority of 480 VAC UPS applications will require 3-wire power, some single-phase loads (usually lighting) may be directly connected to the UPS and require a 2x neutral connection. These applications require the optional 4-wire input & output feature.
Redundant flywheel and power stage and Upgrade capability to higher power
Active Power offers numerous options for customers to have redundant power stages or to field upgrade for increased capacity as a customer critical load grows. However, one must order the base expandable unit with the appropriate number of connection sockets (busbar and fuse holders) or isolation switches to accommodate the maximum future growth planned for the system, as field installation of connection sockets or isolation switches is not available.
Connection socket
This option is the busbar and fuse holder required for each additional power stage that might be added in the future. This is a factory option only. One cannot order connection sockets with isolation switches on the same UPS.
Isolation switches
This option provides a means of electrically isolating individual power stages so that maintenance can be performed on redundant power stages while maintaining protected power for the load with the other stages. This is a factory option only. One cannot order isolation switches with connection sockets on the same UPS.
Redundant power stage
This option includes an additional power stage, wireway and isolation switches for all power stages to complete an N+1 system from any expandable UPS model. This is a factory option only. One can also configure a redundant system by having purchased appropriate number of isolation switches and a field installed power stage with wireway.
Power stage field expansion
This option provides an additional power stage for field expansion either for additional capacity or redundancy. Base systems must be configured with appropriate level of connection sockets or isolation switches from the factory for any additional power stages. Additional power stages should be ordered concurrently with appropriate wire and wireway kit as well.
Wire and wireway kits
This option provides the interconnection wire and conduit wireway for field expansion of power stages on a CleanSource UPS. This is a mandatory option accompanying a power stage field expansion.
External source sync option
This option provides a means for the UPS to synchronize to an external source whenever the flywheel is supplying the load. This option may be required for isolated redundant configurations to help the UPS module outputs synchronized. This is a factory option only.
International packaging
This option provides wooden crating to protect UPS components for international shipment.
Seismic tie-down
This option provides tie-down brackets to secure multi-module Input/Output and System cabinets of the UPS to the floor.
Kick plate option
This option provides a clip-on kick plate for the front bottom of the CleanSource UPS.
