Active Power takes over support of Caterpillar Dealer Network for UPS

CAT involvement terminated by Active Power, new arrangements now in place

Following the acquisition of Active Power by Piller Group in November 2016, a review of Active Power's Cleansource® sales and support channel via Caterpillar Inc (“CAT”) and their independent dealers has now been concluded.

Going forward it has been decided that a more effective arrangement will be direct sales and support to the CAT independent dealer network, eliminating CAT headquarters from the equation and lowering cost to market. The Piller Group is now directly present with offices in 20 countries around the world and more than 200 service technicians.

Notice has therefore been given to CAT that the existing agreement between them and Active Power will be terminated, effective May 31, 2017. From June 1st the Cleansource® product supplied via participating CAT dealers will no longer be badged CAT.

Looking ahead, the full range of Active Power and Piller UPS products, parts and support will be available to all clients, including the CAT independent dealer network.

“Initial reaction to the new arrangement has been very positive and we are confident that this will provide our customers with the best possible access to the expanded product portfolio and much expanded service infrastructure.”

said Kit Killingsworth, Active Power’s Global Sales Manager for OEM UPS.
